Community Improvement Department Activity Update

In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, the South Pasadena Community Improvement Department has been working diligently to address substantial damage determinations and permitting in order to facilitate the recovery process. Immediately following Hurricane Helene, the City requested support from the State of Florida in the form of personnel to assist with substantial damage assessments, plan review, inspections, and permitting. Unfortunately, the devastation from the storms was so widespread that support resources have been scarce. To date, three inspectors have been provided by other jurisdictions, each for a period of 8 days. Though brief, this assistance was greatly appreciated. The City’s request for support personnel has remained active since Hurricane Helene while staff works to process permits and assist the public as efficiently as possible.
