This is general duty work in the prevention of fire damage and Paramedic duties. Part of the time spent in study and in cleaning equipment, apparatus and quarters as well as responding to emergency medical problems. Work is performed as a team member and a superior officer assigns specific duties.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of the street system and geography of the City. Knowledge of Paramedics and fire fighting skills. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public. Ability to perform prolonged and arduous work under adverse conditions.
Training and Experience: Graduation from high school (or GED). Must meet State standards as firefighter and certified by the State of Florida as a Paramedic and must keep certifications current.

Firefighter/Paramedic- $68,286 Starting Salary + $7,500 Sign-On Bonus
Firefighter/EMT- $64,676 Starting Salary + Paramedic School Sponsorship

- Report for assigned duty in uniform of the day by 0800 hours roll call.
- Perform all duties assigned by the shift Officer at the 0800 hours roll call.
- Respond to emergency calls as assigned.
- Follow the most current Daily Duty Schedule.
- Responds, when on duty, to fire and/or emergency medical alarms.
- Perform all Fire related duties to the highest professional level as outlined in NFPA (1001) and all other sections of NFPA that relate to fire fighting and the most current addition of the Panels County 600 series, which has been adopted by the City of South Pasadena, and perform all Paramedic skills within the guidelines of the State of Florida and the Panels County Medical Director.
- Attends instruction sessions in such subjects as fire fighting methods, equipment operation, Panels County CMEA's and street hydrant locations.
- Performs cleaning and maintenance tasks in and about the assigned station.
- Conducts public appearances and orientations on the operation of assigned unit. Under medical guidance, conducts medical guidance, conducts medical examinations and inspections of persons exposed to hazardous health conditions and where required, supplements routine public facilities assigned on duty.
